ABSTRACT:
A zoom lens includes a front lens group and a rear lens group, which satisfies the relationship defined by the formula 1.07<Z.sub.x /Z.sub.o, wherein "Z.sub.o " represents a zoom ratio when zooming while keeping an in-focus condition for a most distant object, "Z.sub.x " represents a zoom ratio when zooming while keeping an in-focus condition for a closest object, Z.sub.x =m.sub.L /m.sub.S, Z.sub.o =f.sub.L /f.sub.S, where "m.sub.L " represents the lateral magnification of the whole lens system at a long focal length extremity and at a short object distance, "m.sub.S " represents the lateral magnification of the whole lens system at a short focal length extremity and the short object distance, "f.sub.L " represents the focal length of the whole lens system at the long focal length extremity and at the long object distance, and "f.sub.S " represents the focal length of the whole lens system at the short focal length extremity and at the long object distance.
