ABSTRACT:
A ventilation apparatus for artificial respiration comprises a high frequency oscillation ventilator and an intermittent positive pressure ventilator, each of these ventilators being composed of a pneumatic circuit. The high frequency oscillation ventilator is connected to a respiratory gas source for feeding a respiratory gas to a patient circuit at a preselected high frequency. Also, the intermittent positive pressure ventilator is connected to the respiratory gas source for feeding the respiratory gas to the patient circuit at a preselected frequency. A shut-off valve means is provided for selectively communicating the gas source with the two ventilators whereby these ventilators are operated either alone or in combination.
