The invention relates to novel thiazolidine-4(S)-carboxylic acid derivatives of the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 stands for an optionally substituted furyl, pyrrolyl, thienyl, benzofuryl, benzopyrrolyl, benzothienyl, phenyl, pyridyl, quinolinyl, isoquinolinyl or indanyl group or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl or C.sub.2-4 alkenyl group optionally substituted by a hydroxyl, carboxyl or halogen fenoxy group,
