ABSTRACT:
There are provided a mainframe1constituting a host device and a disk array system2having logical volumes (LDEV)30connected with the mainframe1. The mainframe1is provided with an input/output device configuration definition information storage section14that stores the address of an LDEV30a. By referring to the input/output device configuration definition information storage section14, a command is then issued giving an instruction to perform back-up of the LDEV30aspecifying the address of the LDEV30a. The disk array system2receives the back-up command, specifies the generation to which the LDEV30ais to be backed up and backs up to an LDEV30bto30dcorresponding to the specified generation.
