ABSTRACT:
The spindle motor includes a rotational shaft30which has a conical portion34, whose outer surface gradually widens toward a thrust dynamic pressure bearing70, and a straight portion33with a fixed outer diameter. Radial dynamic pressure bearing60supports the radial load of the rotating shaft30. The radial bearing has a conical bearing surface64and a straight bearing surface63corresponding to the conical portion34and the straight portion33of the rotating shaft30, respectively. Rotating shaft30is supported and aligned during rotation by fluid dynamic forces generated by the conical portion34.
