ABSTRACT:
A data processing system2has a memory6with a memory address space incorporating a plurality of domains, each domain comprising a set of memory addresses as defined by programmable domain specifying data32. A processor core8executes program instructions fetched from the memory6. Diagnostic control circuitry20is responsive to the domain in which a currently executing program instruction is stored to selectively disable diagnostic circuitry14, 16, 18used to perform diagnostic functions upon the data processing system2. The diagnostic control circuitry20is responsive to diagnostic-capability-defining data36associated with the domains to indicate which diagnostic circuitry14, 16, 18is enabled for which domains.
