ABSTRACT:
A method for constructing an elastomeric composite ply comprises using parallel S and Z twisted cords to reinforce an elastomeric matrix. The S and Z cords are made inexpensively by using a yarn twist that is less than the cord twist. Composite plies made by the method can be used in elastomeric articles such as tires.
