Describes a method for deinking wastepaper printed with electrostatic ink or mixtures thereof with wastepaper printed with impact ink in which a combination of nonionic surfactants are added to an alkaline slurry of the paper fibers. The surfactants are a first nonionic surfactant represented by the formula,
