ABSTRACT:
The invention provides phenylalanyl tRNA synthelase, pheS, (alpha) polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding pheS (alpha) polypeptides and methods for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques. Also provided are methods for utilizing pheS (alpha) polypeptides to screen for antibacterial compounds.
