ABSTRACT:
An optical recording element is disclosed. The element has a transparent substrate and on the surface of said substrate, a recording layer and a light reflecting layer wherein recording layer comprises a mixture of a metallized formazan dye with symmetrical and unsymmetrical cyanine dyes. The unrecorded layer is such that the real part of the refractive index (n) at 780 nm is greater than 1.8 and the imaginary part (k) is less than 0.15. The metallized formazan dye has a k value of 0.00 to 0.02.
