ABSTRACT:
A process for making an .alpha.-olefin oligomer comprises contacting an .alpha.-olefin monomer containing from about 6 to 20 carbon atoms with a catalyst comprising boron trifluoride and an alcohol alkoxylate so as to form an oligomer product.
