An MKB and a device key121of a drive are input to a process MKB122. The process MKB122performs a revoking process for the drive. A process MKB132performs a revoking process for a host103. The host103compares MAC values calculated by MAC calculating blocks123and133. When the host103has determined that the two values are the same, the host103has successfully authenticated the drive102. The drive102compares MAC values calculated by MAC calculating blocks134and124of the host103. When the drive102has determined that the two values are the same, the drive102has successfully authenticated the host103. When the mutual authentication has been successfully performed, the MAC calculating blocks125and135generate a common session key.
