ABSTRACT:
An intaglio halftone gravure printing plate is made by contact-printing onto a sensitized carbon tissue a contact screen including a grid-like arrangement of minute dark dots each having the shape of a square rounded off at the four corners with the peripheries vignetted and having densities tapering from a maximum value of 3.0 at the center to a minimum value of 0.1 at the periphery, contact-printing a halftone positive onto the carbon tissue, contact-printing a light diffusion sheet and the halftone positive combinedly onto the carbon tissue, and developing the treated carbon tissue on a printing plate for subsequent etching of the cylinder.
