ABSTRACT:
A method of heat treating cold reduced, aluminum-killed low carbon steel strip containing up to 0.1% carbon, at least about 0.015% acid soluble aluminum, and manganese at least 10 times the sulfur content, comprising hot rolling, coiling at less than 1200.degree. F., cold rolling to strip, and pretreating by heating at a temperature and for a time sufficient to precipitate aluminum nitride before substantial recrystallization occurs, thereby retarding recrystallization during subsequent heating.
