ABSTRACT:
A method for decorating a substrate using novel thiol-stabilised gold nanoparticles of the general formula HSR where R is a C3-C60alkyl group, aryl, benzyl, alicyclic, or heterocyclic group which is substituted or unsubstituted, branched or unbranched. The thiol-stabilised gold nanoparticles exhibit a plasmon frequency of between 480 and 600 nm.
