ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to methods for preparing aromatic nitriles and, more specifically, to a method for preparing phthalonitriles.
The present method for preparing phthalonitriles resides in subjecting xylene to oxidative ammonolysis at a temperature of 340.degree. to 480.degree. C. in the presence of a catalyst having the following composition (in weight percent):
