ABSTRACT:
A method for operating a user memory (ASP) which is designed as a non-volatile write-read memory and is provided with a control memory (KS) which records the number of erase operations performed at the user memory (ASP), includes the features that prior to each erase operation, a marker is stored in an empty memory location of the control memory (KS), and so that all erase operations are inhibited without such prior storage of the marker, and an apparatus for carrying out the method.
