ABSTRACT:
A marine anti-bio-fouling coating10, for application onto the surface of a marine article12. The coating10comprises a self-levelling, self-curing epoxy resin primer adhesive14, an adhesive modified epoxy resin binder adhesive16and granulated Copper Nickel alloy18. When a coated marine article12is immersed in water a chemical reaction occurs between the water and the Copper Nickel alloy18which causes a film of a complex metal oxide20to form on the exterior surface of the layer of Copper Nickel alloy granules18. The oxide film20forms an inhospitable environment to aquatic organisms and aquatic borers, thereby preventing bio-fouling occurring on the coated marine article. A method of applying the coating10to a marine article12is also provided.
