ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a magnetic head formed of a thin metal film in which a metal magnetic film in the form of a chevron is formed on a substrate, and two half cores in each of which the apex portion of the chevron-shaped metal magnetic film is flattened are integrated in such a manner as to face each other with a gap member placed therebetween, the magnetic head comprising a desired track width not more twice thicknesses d.sub.1, d.sub.2 of the metal magnetic film on both sides of the apex portion, and the following formula is met:
