ABSTRACT:
The invention provides an interlock mechanism between an electromagnetic contactor and a hand operated isolation switch which both prevents operation of the isolation switch when the contactor is in the contact closed position, and also limits the force which may be applied to the contactor by an operator through operation of a hand lever. The invention provides a door interlock mechanism for an enclosure where the enclosure has a door, an isolation switch is mounted inside the enclosure, an operating handle for operating the isolation switch is mounted on the exterior of the enclosure, an electromechanical device is mounted inside the enclosure, the electromechanical device has a movable armature, and the armature has a first armature position and a second armature position. A flag attached to the armature has a first flag position when the armature is in the first armature position, and has a second flag position when the armature is in the second armature position. A first linkage movable in response to the handle for transmitting motion of the handle to the isolation switch for operating the isolation switch, and a second linkage movable in response to the handle and responsive to the flag to prevent operating the isolation switch when the armature is in the second armature position is coupled to a means for the second linkage to prevent motion of the first linkage in response to the flag when the flag is in the second flag position so that the isolation switch may not be operated by the hand lever when the armature is in the second armature position.
