The invention provides an incubator1wherein stackers3having a plurality of microplate accommodating portions are arranged in a chamber11,and a microplate transport device5is arranged for transporting a microplate31within the chamber11and moving the microplate31into or out of a desired microplate accommodating portion. A camera7is provided on a position opposed to a microplate accommodating portion of an uppermost stage in the stacker3.The camera7faces said microplate accommodating portion, whereby a sample on the microplate31can be photographed.
