The invention concerns herbicidal compositions comprising an active herbicidal compound of the thiolcarbamate, substituted urea, substituted triazine or chloroacetanilide type or optional mixtures thereof, and an antidote therefor having the general formula I ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 represents oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen;
