ABSTRACT:
A headbox for a paper machine includes a distributor beam part communicating with a distribution part and a turbulence part followed by a slice part. The turbulence part is constituted by a turbulence generator member in which a plurality of flow bores are formed, the outlet mouths of the flow bores opening into flow slots formed in the turbulence generator and wherein a central plane of each flow slot forms an angle with the axes of the flow bores, the magnitude of the angle being in the range of about 5.degree. to 45.degree.. The headbox may also include an equalizing chamber in which a pulp suspension is adapted to flow in an upwardly slanted flow direction and in this case the axes of the flow bores form a declining angle with the flow direction in the equalizing chamber, which declining angle is in the range of about 5.degree. to 15.degree..
