Antimicrobial compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is selected from (A) (C.sub.1 to C.sub.20) straight or branched alkyl, optionally substituted with hydroxy, halogen, alkoxy, phenoxy, or --C(.dbd.O)R' wherein R' is selected from (C.sub.1 -C.sub.20)alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.20)alkoxy, phenoxy, or NHR" wherein R" is (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkyl or phenyl; (B) benzyl; (C) phenethyl; (D) cyanoethyl; (E) 2-cyanoethyl; (F) propargyl; and (G) allyl;
