ABSTRACT:
A flash type ADC (analog-to-digital converter) for converting analog signals to N-bit digital signals comprises 2.sup.N -1 comparators having different threshold values in a sequential order which perform full parallel-connected comparison. Buffer-amplifiers buffer the outputs of the respective comparators and a priority encoder encodes the outputs of the comparators. According to the present invention, the conventional reference resistance row is eliminated, and instead, comparators are used, resulting in simplified circuitry, improved conversion speed, and facilitated VLSI formation.
