ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides an ethylene copolymer comprising 85.0 to 99.995 mol % of an ethylene unit, 0.005 to 5 mol % of a comonomer unit represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Ar is ##STR2## R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom or a straight-chain or a side-chain alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and 0 to 10 mol % of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer unit, the ethylene copolymer having a density of 0.860 to 0.970 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index of 0.05 to 100 g/10 minutes.
