ABSTRACT:
The effect of detection errors when detecting if a disc recording medium is in a disc drive is eliminated. A control unit17detects if an optical disc11was supplied to an optical disc drive13based on the operation of the transportation unit16,causes the optical disc drive13to detect if an optical disc11is inside the disc drive, and compares the results of these detection operations. If the results do not match, the control unit17causes the optical disc drive13to repeat the operation discharging and loading the optical disc11,and causes the optical disc drive13to again detect if an optical disc11is present after the discharge and loading operation. The control unit17then determines if the new detection result from the optical disc drive13and the detection result related to supplying the optical disc11to the optical disc drive13match, and based on the result of this evaluation detects an optical disc drive13operating error.
