ABSTRACT:
Enhanced recovery of oil from oil fields is effected by making use of an inexpensive surface-active agent formed by oxidizing a portion of crude oil with an aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite at a temperature of 20.degree.-180.degree. C. The oxidized crude can be injected in the field in admixture with non-oxidized crude or with water as a micro-emulsion.
