ABSTRACT:
A dynamic printer-port switcher (DPS) is provided for use on a computer system such as a personal computer (PC) for selectively connecting the PC to a number of peripheral devices, such as printers, PC cameras, scanners, external CD-ROM drives, and external hard disk drives, through software control. Broadly, the DPS includes a printer-port connector for connecting the DPS to a printer port on the PC, at least two peripheral de connectors for connecting the DPS to two peripheral devices such as a printer and a PC camera. Further, the DPS includes a first and second switching circuits which are under control by a control circuit to selectively connect the PC to one of the connected peripheral devices.
