ABSTRACT:
A refrigerator includes a thawing compartment in which food is to be thawed through the aid of a heater. An odor absorbing member mounted along a ceiling of the compartment comprises a porous plate which carries a platinum catalyst. The catalyst absorbs odors which are decomposed upon being heated to more than 100.degree. C. by the heater. Upon being heated greater than 250.degree. C. the odors form a platinum-sulfur compound which attaches to the porous plate.
