ABSTRACT:
A data transfer apparatus for transferring data between a system bus and a local bus at a high speed is provided. A bus bridge101is connected between a system bus132and a local bus137.Data transferred between a CPU133,an I/O device136and a main memory135on the system bus132are retained in an associative memory106via an associative memory control unit105.When an access to this data from an I/O device138on the local bus137is generated, the data are transferred from the associative memory106to the I/O device138.Thus, when a data transfer request from the I/O device138to the main memory135is generated, no bus cycle is generated on the system bus132as long as this data are retained in the associative memory106.Consequently, the data can be transferred at a high speed.
