ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to teletext, in which the character multiplex signals of the international title standard can be processed together with those of the North America teletext standard by a compatible digital processing unit for the teletext and a method thereof. A timing clock signal and a byte clock signal are generated if character multiplex signals of the international title standard are provided, in order to store the character multiplex signals in a programmable RAM in synchronization with the generated clock signals and to generate the interrupt request signals at the same time. The character multiplex signals transmitted in the international title standard are compatibly converted into the North America teletext standard in response to the interrupt request signals.
