ABSTRACT:
`TifEagle` is a dense fine-textured triploid (2n=3x=27 chromosomes) bermudagrass which has use on golf greens and other areas requiring mowing heights at 6 mm or less. The grass produces more shoots per unit area that are shorter with narrower and shorter leaves than `Tifdwarf`, the previous cultivar of choice for high quality putting greens mowed at 6 mm or less on golf courses where burmudagrass is preferred. `TifEagle` consistently produced better quality turf and color than `Tifdwarf` at mowing heights less than 6 mm. It shows more resistance than `Tifdwarf` to the tawny mole cricket after one year of establishment.
