ABSTRACT:
A method and system for authenticating the identification of mobile stations during system access is disclosed. A modified electronic serial number, including an encoded COUNT value, sent by the mobile station is compared with a modified electronic serial number corresponding to that mobile station stored in system memory. In this way, fraudulent use can be deterred and detected without changing the specification of information to be transmitted over the air interface in existing radiocommunication systems.
