Xanthine derivatives of formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkynyl,
R.sub.2 is different and is alkyl, alkynyl, phenyl-alkylene, phenyl alkenylene, cycloalkyl, inter alia,
R.sub.3 is cycloalkyl, phenyl, norbornane, inter alia and
R.sub.4 is hydrogen, methyl, benzyl, inter alia.
