16-membered macrolide derivatives represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group which protects a hydroxyl group; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group which protects a hydroxyl group; R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom or a straight-chain aliphatic acyl group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms; and R.sup.4 represents a hydrogen atom or a straight-chain aliphatic or aromatic acyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms;
