ABSTRACT:
An electrophotographic photoreceptor containing a naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid diimide derivative of Formula (1), which has a branched alkyl group substituted with an aryl group at the α-position with regard to nitrogen atoms of imide groups:wherein R1and R2are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C20substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, and a C1-C20substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group;R3is selected from the group consisting of a C1-C20substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a C1-C20substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group, a C7-C30substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, and a group having the formula —(CH2)n—Y—R4;Ar is a C6-C30substituted or unsubstituted aryl group;Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom;R4is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C20substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group; andn is an integer between 1 and 12.The naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid diimide derivative has high solubility in organic solvents and compatibility with binder resins, thus providing better electron transporting ability. The invention is also directed to an electrophotographic imaging apparatus using the photoreceptor.
