ABSTRACT:
Oleandomycin-Y(O-demethyloleandomycin), a byproduct in the production of oleandomycin by fermentation, is converted through a series of intermediates into more useful cis-C.sub.3 ",C.sub.4 "-carbonate derivatives which have antibacterial activity much enhanced over that of oleandomycin-Y.
