ABSTRACT:
A multiple star implementation of RITE-Net.TM. type structure is implemented hereby. The structure provides an economical way of introducing PONs by serving a greatly increased number of subscribing ONUs for each fiber leaving the central office. Accordingly, the fiber gain reduces the installation cost of the fiber plant by reducing the average run length. Additionally, the larger number of subscribers reduce the average cost per subscriber for a laser at the central office.
