A process for the preparation of a polyisobutene amine, in particularly a polyisobutene amine of formula (I): ##STR1## comprises reacting a carbonyl funtionalized polyisobutene [PIB]--(CO)R and an amine H.sub.2 NR.sup.1 and hydrogenating the product of the reaction between said carbonyll functionalized polyisobutene and said amine, where PIB is a polyisobutenyl group,
