ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing .alpha.-fluoromethyl amino acids from corresponding .alpha.-hydroxymethyl amino acids is disclosed. The process utilizes SF.sub.4 and BF.sub.3 or AlCl.sub.3 in HF to effect the fluorination.
