ABSTRACT:
An image recording apparatus for scanning a print head of predetermined width in a main scanning direction and successively displacing a recording medium in a subscanning direction thereby forming an image on said medium. The constitution of the apparatus is shown in FIG. 4A and an arrangement is provided whereby the remaining print width of the recording medium, after the last print line of predetermined width, is calculated and the recording medium is displaced by the remaining width in the subscanning direction before printing of the last line. The constitution of the apparatus further includes a platen with suction holes for chucking the recording medium during recording and an arrangement for reducing the suction area on the platten at the time of printing of the last line.
