ABSTRACT:
2,3-Dihydrofuran is prepared from 2-hydroxytetrahydrofuran by dehydration utilizing specific catalysts selected from the class consisting of the 1A and 2A metals of pyrosulfate, of the various phosphates, of phosphorous pentaoxide, and of dimethyl sulfoxide; Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, Mo.sub.2 O.sub.3, W.sub.2 O.sub.3, and combinations thereof; followed by hydrogenation.
