Advantageously each supporting means is integral with a face of a respective mandrel which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the mandrel wheel and each stripping means comprises a pair of flat plates resiliently urged against opposite faces of a mandrel and reciprocated therealong radially relative to the axis of rotation of the mandrel wheel.
