ABSTRACT:
An illuminating optical system for endoscopes comprising a prism having surfaces adapted to totally reflect the light led into the prism and a surface adapted to project the light toward an object to be observed, and at least one tubular transparent member adjacent on one end face to a light source and contacting on the other end face with one of the surfaces of the prism to lead the light from the light source into the prism, so that, in spite of a high magnification, the uniform illumination is made and a clear stereoscopic image having no flare is always obtained. This prism may be arranged coaxially to or in parallel with the observing optical system. The tubular transparent member has an outer peripheral surface provided thereon a light shielding member and an inner peripheral surface which can scramble-reflect the light introduced into the interior.
