ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is an optical filter for selectively transmitting light in a passband at the wavelength .lambda., including an initial polarizer with a polarization direction perpendicular to a beam path and a final polarizer spaced from the initial polarizer along the path and having the same polarization direction. A birefringent element is positioned between the polarizers with an optic axis perpendicular to the path and rotated with respect to the polarization direction, the element having a birefringence which is zero at the wavelength .lambda.. Lyot-Ohman and Solc embodiments of the filter are also described.
