ABSTRACT:
Process for the production of iminopyrrolinones of the formula I ##STR1## wherein one of the two substituents R and R' represents a phenyl ring unsubstituted, or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl).sub.2 amino, halogen, nitro or cyano, whilst the other of the two substituents R and R'represents hydrogen, which process comprises reacting a chloroacetoacetanilide of the formula II
