ABSTRACT:
A process for the continuous catalytic vapor-phase mononitration of aromatic compounds, especially benzene, using as the catalyst an .alpha.-fluorosulfonic acid polymer admixed with a complement inert to the nitration reaction and dimensionally stable under the reaction conditions.
