ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to improvements in a bioassay useful for identifying materials that function as ligands for a hormone or hormone-like receptor protein measured by means of induction of reporter DNA driven by a promoter of a hormone response element. The improvement comprises producing a cell operatively harboring DNA encoding reporter gene and receptor gene by coinfection of a mammalian cell with a viral expression vector. The expedient of this invention permits commercial realization and exploitation of the bioassay system.
