ABSTRACT:
A beam14having, at one end, a tie-point11screwed to reference location12of vibrating panel15. At the other end of beam14is rubbing-point13. Rubbing-point13is pushed into contact with panel15at contact location17by the flexibility of beam14. Direct rubbing occurs between13and17during vibration. But a friction linkage18(FIG.1B) can be mounted between beam point13and panel location17to redirect rubbing direction and/or to amplify friction movement. Vibration of panel15will cause slippage (rubbing) between point13and location17, therefore creating friction dissipation of vibration energy. Construction of beam14can be complex to include more rubbing-points (FIG.2, 3, 4) or more rubbing pieces (FIG.1A,1C) that can rub with each other to create more friction dissipation.
